#### Mimusops Elengi.
The flowers of this tree are known in India as "**Bakul**" or "**Vakul**", and they present the starting material for the preparation of **Attar of Vakul **(attar of bakul, or attar vakula), a perfume oil. The large tree grows wild in northern and northwestern India as well as in south India, particularly in the northern province of U. P.
The flowers are steam distilled locally and yield a very small amount of essential oil. An attar is also produced, usually on sandalwood as a base.
The essential oil of **Mimusops**** ****Elengi**** **is a pale yellow, mobile liquid of very delicate, sweet and extremely tenacious floral odor, somewhat reminiscent of orange flower and tuberose, or the more well-known stephanotis floribunda (gardenia undertone). A honeylike, heavy-sweet
undertone is quite persistent, and this essential oil could, if it were made regularly available, certainly find use as a modifier of countless floral fragrances.
Oil of **Mimusops**** ****Elengi**** **is not a commercial item yet, but it has been produced and shown to the outside world with the intention of increasing demand and production of this exquisite perfume oil. The "**Attar**** ****Vakula**" is regularly produced and finds application in the local Indian perfumes.
